这类工作也是“全球变化”的基础。

他的工作是钻取极地和高山的冰芯，根据氧同位素，来计算古地温（属于地球化学工作）。

氧同位素和温度的关系，现有的公式都是半经验式的，而不是严格的动力学的。有很大误差。原理可参见这篇综述：
