are too heavy and bulky, and they are not just ear plugs, they are headset. Those light mortars are portable, and supposed to be used in any terrine. The soldiers may or may not have ear protection gear, after all they already carry about 70lbs of gear. It is not uncommon no to heavy ear plugs. The small one doesn't really works, and it only stop them for hearing each others.
