are created. But the area is less related to realy (university) research now.
If someone in this area got turing award, it must be for his work started
30 years ago.
so me, VLDB and VLSI CAD are "边缘". They should be left for
industrials. In short, 1) areas where industrials have advantage over universities
can be thought as 边缘 areas or out of date area. 2) areas industrials have tried and lost interest in it can be thought as 边缘 area. 3) it has nothing to do
how many conferences are hold and many many papers are published.
